What is a Trade Idea?

Estimated reading: 2 minutes

A Trade Idea refers to one complete trading concept, not just a single position. To ensure consistent risk management, all trades that belong to the same idea are grouped together and must respect the maximum risk limit of the initial account balance.

Trade Idea Definition

A Trade Idea includes any positions that meet the following conditions:

  • Same Symbol – All trades are placed on the same instrument (e.g., XAUUSD).
  • Same Direction – All trades are either buys or sells.
  • Same Timing & Concept – If trades are opened within a short time frame, share similar entry/exit levels (including TP and SL), or are reopened shortly after being closed (e.g., within 1 hour), they are treated as part of the same idea.

This also means:

  • Splitting a large position into smaller entries still counts as one Trade Idea.
  • Closing and then quickly reopening the same setup still counts as the same Trade Idea.
  • Multiple trades with very similar parameters (entry, stop loss, take profit, timing) are grouped as a single Trade Idea.

Risk Limit per Trade Idea

Edge and Classic (1-Step and 2-Step)

The total combined potential loss (realized or unrealized) across a Trade Idea must not exceed 3% of the initial or scaled account balance. Exceeding this limit is considered a hard breach.

Instant Funding

The total combined potential loss (realized or unrealized) across a Trade Idea must not exceed 1% of the initial or scaled account balance. Exceeding this limit is considered a hard breach.

Note: This rule is not automated and is reviewed manually at major milestones such as issue of funded accounts and/or payout requests.
